Apple Thief!

This morning this bird was hiding in my apple tree enjoying the fruit.
He finally came out for a photo-op, but
I still couldn't tell what kind of bird he was until I heard him sing!
The unmistakable loud mewing gave it away.
It was a catbird.

Beautiful Joy. I so enjoy your birds because they are different than the birds here. But I can't find the translation from English to Dutch. Catbird ... Do you have the Latin name for me :-)

In answer to Jedidja above, according to Wikipedia, I believe the name of the catbird comes from the Latin "Dumetella carolinensis".

oh, how cool! i'd love to see a catbird in person. we have mockingbirds here but no catbirds. :)

I adore Gray Catbirds and their mewing most assuredly gives them away. Sometimes I get their voice and Yellow Bellied Sapsuckers confused~
