Owl eXcitement!

Last week when I went in for my regular dentist check-up,
I got the scoop and the photos for this post from my dental hygienist!

She stated that as she was going in to work at the clinic that morning,
she heard crows carrying on and making a much louder
commotion than their usual cries.

Her curiosity got the best of her,
so she went over to investigate the source of the crow's outcries.
Note the blue laundry basket...
This is what she and a co-worker used to capture
an owl that was being attacked by the crows!

After successfully placing the basket over the owl,
a call was made to the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission.
This department is specially trained to deal with wild creatures
who wander out of their natural environment.

If the owl is healthy,
he will be returned to the wild.
If he needs medical attention,
we have a local veterinarian that will tend to his needs.

Many thanks to my dental hygienist Dena Sparks,
who furnished the material for this story,
and allowed me to publish her photos as well!
Great photos from a cell phone, don't you think?

I've done a couple of other posts on owls,
Hopefully this owl was healthy enough not to need rehab.

I didn't know crows would attack an owl. I'm glad this beautiful creature was saved from them. Thanks to everyone involved!

Beautiful. One year we had an owl hanging out in our back yard. One late evening, i found him perched on our basketball goal. We were concerned for our puppy. I thinking he was watching. Yikes!

Nearby a flock of crows (a gang actually! the little thugs!) that lives in the trees two houses away. When they start their racket the noise is unbelievable. I imagine when they are on the attack it must be incredible. I am hoping the owl will be okay. Such a beautiful face.

Along with Great Gray Owls, Barred Owls are my Favorites! I just love them and I am so glad that your Dentist and others were able to help this beauty from the attack of the Crows. Crows and Ravens can really take them down and these images show a healthy bird that will do well...just need to get tough!

Crows can be so mean and territorial. I put on in my Halloween story this year for just that reason. They are kinda creepy in their own way.

Glad the owl was saved.

Much nicer to see an owl than visit the dentist!

Good that it was being well looked after.

The eXuberance of owls is astonishing...

The eXistence of wildlife preservers should be more appreciated for their efforts. They play an important role in preventing these endangered animals from becoming eXtinct...

Thanks for linking to the letter "X"!
