The Daughters of Zelophehad

Have you ever heard of Zelophehad?
He was a man who lived in Moses' day.
He had 5 daughters and no sons.

This morning as I was reading from Numbers 27:1-11,
the bravery of these five daughters of Zelophehad stood out to me.

In an unprecedented act of courage,
they went before Moses and the other leaders of Israel.
They protested the unfairness of a legal requirement
that favored sons rather than daughters.
They not only protested;
they asked for the law to be changed!

Because of their bravery,
a new edict was given -
when a man had no sons,
his daughters now had a right to their father's inheritance.

What act of bravery might God call on me to do today?

I find this fascinating because I too had forgotten it, although I know reading it now, I did know of this story. I need to go back and read the entire story. It fascinates me because I truly did not remember women having any rights like this in that day. Thank you for sharing this post.
Blessings.
