My Song vs. The Song of the Mockingbird...

We have a mockingbird...

...or maybe a family of mockingbirds!

They serenade us with their songs in the morning...

...and often sing loudly in the middle of the night.

They seem to do a lot of their singing on nearby signs -
often messing on them, too!
(If you can't see the "mess", click on picture to enlarge!)

So I've been doing some thinking about them;
although they sing delightful and varied melodies,
they have NO SONG OF THEIR OWN.

I don't want to be like that.
I want to have my own song -
even if it's just a song in my heart.

God says in Psalm 40:3 that He will
"put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God.
Many will see and fear and put their trust in the LORD."

If I get a new song today,
I'll know its' from God;
because I'm not much of a song writer!

Has God put a new song in your heart today?

"I want to have my own song"

How true! God has given us each our own song...our own unique manner of reflecting His glory.

So, why are we so often critical when other people sing their own song rather than our's...or the group's?

A beautiful analogy. I want to have a song straight from my heart too, a new song from me to Him!

We have a colony of frogs--they croak more than sing. But I'm on your side. I want to sing my own song. All I have to do is look at the beautiful budding trees and early blooming flowers to hear a song from my heart. Love our Creator!

I love to sing. I'm singing or humming much of the time no matter what else I'm doing. I don't know if I've ever heard a mockingbird sing. I probably have and didn't know it. Thank you for sharing.
Blessings,
Charlotte

Oh, yes, God puts a song in my heart every day! I love your post! I wrote a poem with a similar theme about birds singing and our choosing to worship through song.

Great photos. Mockingbirds can be so lovely and at the same time very aggressive when protecting their babies. Blessings.
