Daisies

.
Daisies have been one of my favorite flowers for years.

One of the reasons I like them so well
has to do with their resiliency.
They can be wilted;
you may think they're nearly dead,
put them in some water...
and voilah!
They perk up and look freshly picked.

These are high school graduation pictures of my husband and me.   We met a few years after these pictures were taken. He knew my fondness for daisies, and often stopped to pick me a fresh bouquet on his way to see me.

We liked them so well that we had daisy designs on my wedding dress,  and live daisies on our wedding cake.

One of the reasons that I think our marriage has lasted this long has to do with a decision we made before we were married.  We read the Bible verse in Ephesians 4:26 that said "Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry," and decided to never go to bed angry at each other.
Sometimes we stayed up quite late,
but we always tried to put that into practice!

Here we are a little over 40 years later...

Can you see any resemblance?!!

I also love those little flowers. Here they are called: madeliefjes.

And I'm so glad you set a good example with your marriage. Beautiful people, I love you ... and I like the pictures.

My BIL took a couple of delightful pictures of our DDs when they were small along a hillside covered in daisies. Your post reminded me of those photos. Thanks!

Daisies are among my very favorites. If they had a fragrance, they would be perfect, but even without one, they are bright, cheerful, and resilient. They make me happy.

So do your pictures. What a cute couple, then and now, you are!

=)

Loved seeing a peek back. RB has always indulged my love of wild flowers. My Emily's Jonathan brought her a bouquet of flowers the other day and I heard him tell her, "I remembered you liked to pick wild flowers so I chose the one that look the most like them." I knew right then he was a keeper!

The years do just roll by, don't they?!
Long ago and for a long time daisies were my favorite flower. Oh fickle me! I have many favorites now.

My twins (via preschool teacher) gave me daisies for Mother's Day and I was surprised by how long they lasted! They are definitely sweet flowers. I like your rule for marriage. My hubby and I are rarely angry with each other, but when we are we definitely don't let it fester. Congrats on 40 years!

Hello.
I don't have a particular favorite when it comes to flowers...I love them all (smile). My mother-in-law told me those same words before my wife and I got married. They've been married going on 51 years and my wife and I 10. Wise words indeed. Nice photos and post. Thanks for sharing.

You guys are so cute!

I had daisies in my wedding, too.

And yellow and green dressed printed with the flower as well.

It's was definitely a retro-themed wedding...even before it was actually retro!

Thanks for a delightful little link for the letter "D".

A+
