Produce!

When my own little garden doesn't do so good,
I like to visit the Farmer's Market to buy fresh local produce.

But this year, my garden has done pretty good!
I've certainly had all the cucumbers I wanted,
...and enough to share!
Our apple tree is loaded,
but we didn't spray again this year,
because the wren family had already made a nest
in the little house that hung on its lower branches.
(To see the wren's "family photos", click HERE!.)

My main problem has been my tomatoes...
They keep getting bigger and bigger,
but don't ripen.
Early summer was pretty wet,
so maybe they didn't get enough sunshine!

Anyway,
I got to thinking about the word "Produce".
One of the definitions I looked up stated,
"To bring forth yield".

So, I thought about my own life,
and wondered,
what kind of "yield" am I producing?

Jesus said in John 15:16 that He appointed us
"to go and produce lasting fruit."

Hmmm!
Something to think about!

Like last week,
I'm a little behind on getting Rock4Today posted,
but if the new one isn't up yet,
please check back later!

Thanks for your visit!

Gosh don't you just love a curly cucumber - the real deal! You are sooooo lucky with your Produce (although I'm sure it takes a fair amount of effort too!)

Loved your Wrens in the nest

Your own garden grown veggies are the best! Maybe you could fix fried green tomatoes from the ones that don't ripen!

Hang in there my tomatoes have been slowly ripening ( late, yes but still I should have a good crop in the end...I have canned some and it looks like I'll have enough to can more this weekend! :)

I'm with you on Farmer's Market for whatever the garden doesn't produce. This year, the baby deer found out they were able to get under our electrified fence and we didn't even get tomatoes. Now, there is a low strand up around the garden to keep them out for next year.

For the first time the "Ruby's German Green Tomatoes" have thrived in my garden. The problem was that I didn't know when to pick them. A little animal bit a chunk out of one when it had a faint yellow glow. The tomato was ripe.
We have had one since-- it is a very tasty tomato.

Your produce looks great! And I agree, God has created us to be fruitful, honoring and glorifying Him.

I met someone who moved out here to Virginia after growing up in Washington state. She told me, "You get so much rain here!" I said, "What are you talking about? Your tomatoes don't even get ripe you have so much rain!" Turns out, we get about the same, but theirs is all throughout the year while ours is in big thunderstorms. Hope your tomatoes are ripe by now.

This is definitely something to ponder...

Perhaps over some fried green tomatoes...

Or some pickles out of the plentiful produce picked from your garden!

Perfect post for the letter "P"...
