The Sound of God's footsteps

This morning as I was reading my Bible,
I came across a phrase that had caught my attention in the past.
Now here it was again, stirring my curiosity anew.
It was from Genesis 3:8 where it talks about Adam and Eve hearing
"the sound of the LORD walking"
in the garden in the cool of the day.

I have a pretty active imagination,
...so I turned it lose!
These are some of the thoughts I had:

Was it the sound of heavy footsteps because He was upset with them
for eating from the forbidden tree of life?

Was it the sound of leaves rustling from His presence as He passed by?

Could they see Him as they peaked through the leaves in their hiding place?
Was He in a visible form?

Was it the booming sound of thunder,
such as I imagine Moses and the Children of Israel
heard when they gathered at the base of Mount Sinai,
and He gave them the Ten Commandments?

Or did He long for them to run toward Him instead of running away from Him?
Was it the sound of the voice of the LORD as mentioned in Zephaniah 3:17?
"The LORD your God is with you,
He is mighty to save.
He will take great delight in you,
He will quiet you with His love,
He will rejoice over you with singing."

I want my ears to be open to the sounds of God today,
whether it's the singing of the birds outside,
the wind as it tugs on the corners of my house,
the laughter that bubbles out of the mouths of my family,
...or when He speaks to me with a "still small voice" in my heart.

I too wonder. Sometimes I hear a voice call me to pay attention. And I am glad I did in certain circumstances. ~Ames

Beautiful post. I'm prepared to read the bible this year from cover to cover. I want my ears and eyes to be open to God. I'm new to this blog site, and I will be visiting again.

Very good. I haven't thought about that verse in Genesis that way, but I have often thought of the verse in Zephaniah. I'm so thankful we live in his grace and need not be fearful of hearing from him.

Very interesting. I had never thought about that before. However He speaks to us today we need to listen and obey. Thank you for this thought provoking post.
Blessings,

Wow that header picture is awesome. I am a Yankee who has now lived in FL for over 30 years, hence have not experienced ice storm nor wintery weather in a long time! Sometimes, I so miss it so enjoyed that photo, but of course that ice storm wrecked havoc on those living through that experience. Beautiful from afar. Lovely post. Interesting reflection. I hear His voice in my heart and in the beauty I capture through my camera lens and in the sound sounds of laughter from our grands. Blessings.

Never pulled that phrase out of that scripture before, but it was fun imagining with you. I bet the sound was full of grace and love, whatever sad the consequences were to come. I, too, want to be open to whatever sounds he initiates towards me. He loves us so much, he'll always come after us.
Blessings.
